Press Release: Grundfos Foundation Enters Humanitarian Framework Agreement with Plan International Denmark

For the first time, the Grundfos Foundation has entered into a humanitarian framework agreement with Plan International Denmark, enabling the organisation to provide rapid emergency support to children, young people and families affected by humanitarian crises. The agreement allows Plan International Denmark to respond within 24 hours of an emergency. The first donation has already been allocated to support the crisis response in Lebanon.

“We are very pleased to expand our long-standing partnership with the Grundfos Foundation through this framework agreement. It reflects a high level of trust in our humanitarian response capacity and enables us to reach more children, young people and their families – faster,” says Dorthe Petersen, CEO of Plan International Denmark.

She continues:

“This is particularly important at a time when humanitarian action is facing both increasing needs and significant global funding cuts.”

Through the new framework agreement, Plan International Denmark can rapidly scale up emergency interventions in both new and ongoing conflicts and disasters, with as little as 24 hours’ notice.

First Donation Activated in Lebanon
Plan International Denmark has already activated DKK 1.5 million from the framework agreement for humanitarian interventions in Lebanon, where more than 1.2 million people have been displaced as a result of recurring conflicts in the Middle East.

Lebanon’s critical infrastructure has suffered extensive damage, including water, electricity and supply systems, severely limiting access to clean water, energy and food.

The funding will support cash assistance for displaced families as well as WASH interventions (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). Specifically, Plan International Denmark and Plan International Lebanon will provide:

• Support for the operation of existing water supply systems, including fuel and energy for water pumps.
• Cash assistance to displaced families, enabling them to purchase food, shelter materials and hygiene items according to their needs.
• Emergency water supply to collective shelters and communities without access to safe water.
• Improvements to sanitation and hygiene conditions in collective accommodation centres.
• Distribution of hygiene kits to vulnerable families.

The donation from the Grundfos Foundation will enable Plan International Denmark to reach both displaced people living in collective shelters and families in isolated communities more effectively – including those living in hard-to-reach areas of southern Lebanon.
