Youth Economic Empowerment

In Sub-Saharan Africa, more than one in five young people today are neither in employment, education nor training and by 2030, an estimated 600 million young people will be competing for jobs in a labour market that is not generating decent jobs at the pace needed. PlanBørnefonden works with the private sector and the young people to address the problem.

Many developing countries have a rapidly growing youth population, while economies are affected by instability, conflict, and climate change. This makes it harder for businesses to grow and create jobs. At the same time, many young people struggle to access the skills, finance, and opportunities they need to succeed. As a result, too many young people, especially women, are unable to find decent work or start up and grow their own business.
